William Grant & Sons, the folks behind Glenfiddich, The Balvenie, Monkey Shoulder and more have just bagged the BEST SELLING SCOTCH in Scotland: The Famous Grouse and also the Naked Malt.
The Famous Grouse is Scotland’s the number #1 best‑selling whisky since the 1980s with 40%+ of sales made in the UK.
Not only locally they also are shifting roughly 2.7 million cases annually, with exports to about 100 countries.
They have also acquired the enthusiast loved, Naked Malt. This was once known as Naked Grouse and was relaunched as a blended malt in 2017. This also has huge global reach with over 50,000 cases per year, with strong appeal in Asia‑Pacific markets.
This sale seems to be showing the growing divide in attitude to whisky between Premium bottles and shelf friendly staples. Edrington now have their focus on the luxury releases of Macallan, Highland Park and Glenrothes while William Grant & Sons have much more wallet friendly ranges with Glenfiddich, Monkey Shoulder, Tullamore D.E.W and many more.
