A very unique Bourbon created by a Jim Beam’s master distiller and a Suntory’s Chief Blender, it really is two sides of Beam Suntory coming together.
With three barrels involved, matured in virgin white oak for at least four years then blended with produce from wine and sherry casks.
This was a sample from a Pour & Sip set which are worth checking out for trying new and interesting drams.
Legent are tackling the new age of Whiskey drinker here and is a smart move that makes a lot of sense. Moving away from the standard bottle shape this clean and minimal designed look would stand out on any shelf, especially with the large lip at the top of the bottle. The branding using a bold brush stoke as the background and thick block type really show the collaboration approach to this Whiskey.
A real pleasant nose of corn sweetness, dried leather, a little bit of spice with some delicate floral notes floating around.
The taste is very Bourbon like to start, with a slight sour, nutty taste. The mouthfeel is very thick and jammy almost like brown sugar sprinkled over rice pudding. It has a nice charred oak and ginger green tea finish with a rye-like spice hovering around.
This is a really good bottle which shows what can be achieved by styles merging together. At below the £50 mark, it is pretty decent value for money too. You can find it on Master of Malt or see more information on The Whisky Exchange website.
